Director Story

From an early age, Jonathon Link felt a strong calling to filmmaking. His film work has taken him all over the world, and his passion lies in using film not only as a medium to entertain or help market, but rather as a tool to share powerful stories that inspire.

In 2013, Jonathon directed, filmed and edited “Travis: A Soldier’s Story,” Fotolanthropy’s first documentary about Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, one of only five soldiers in the Iraq and Afghan wars to survive quadruple amputee injuries. The film won “Best Documentary Short” at the 2014 GI Film Festival and went on to tour around the country, including a special screening at the U.S. Capitol. He also directed, filmed and edited the Fotolanthropy documentary, “The Luckiest Man,” about Dallas businessman John Paine and his powerful personal story in the midst of his 15-year battle with ALS.

Jonathon also spent a year working with several members of congress to document their work on Capitol Hill and around the world. This work raised awareness on issues such as sanitation in India with the Global Poverty Project and individuals wrongfully imprisoned in Myanmar.

He studied film and broadcasting at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo., and North Central University in Minneapolis. He currently resides in Dallas, where he works independently on a variety of film projects – for both commercial and nonprofit clients. When Jonathon isn’t filming, you will likely, and not surprisingly, find him at the movie theater.
